Dynamite

Dynamite: Band Bio

Dynamite are the premier party rock band in Sussex with a varied and dynamic set list designed to make sure that everyone has a great time. The band started life back in 2006 and after a few name changes Dynamite was created in 2008. Since then Dynamite have gone from strength to strength, playing gigs all over Sussex and regularly receiving repeat bookings. Our set list ranges from the 60's right through to the modern day and is guaranteed to get any occasion rocking!

Whether it be a wedding or a pub gig, Dynamite put on a professional performance coupling great musicianship with a desire to make sure you enjoy yourself as much as we do...!

John Diston

John Diston
Guitar and Backing Vocals

Originally from Blyth in Northumberland, John is the only remaining founder member of Dynamite and started playing the guitar at the age of 13 having being inspired by the likes of AC/DC, Kiss and Guns 'n' Roses. Over the years John's music tastes have mellowed a little to include disco, indie and pop but the rock songs are still his favourites and you can spot his song choices in the set list without too much trouble!

During his time away from the band John is a keen follower of the world's most famous non league football team Blyth Spartans and enjoys going on a ridiculous amount of holidays.

Laura Kirby

Laura Kirby
Lead Vocals

Laura starting singing at an early age and is inspired by creative artists such as Pink, Madonna and Tori Amos. Originally from Worcestershire, she has sung in wedding bands and duos (both in the UK and overseas), but this is her first 'rock' project. She is enjoying trying out new things and even warming towards some AC/DC (only some)!

Laura loves the high energy feel of a Dynamite gig, and as the youngest of the group likes to keep the set list up to date with more contemporary hits.

She enjoys travelling, learning new things and generally avoiding spiders and flying

Carlos Fernandez

Carlos Fernandez
Bass

Hailing from the Dominican Republic, Carlos has found his new home providing the basslines in Dynamite since joining in 2007. Carlos brings a unique blend of rock and Latin playing to the band with a whole host of influences from Steely Dan to Van Halen, and everything in-between with the accent always keeping everything ticking over and tight. Carlos and John have formed a great understanding over the years and are the heartbeat of the band despite the obvious language barriers between Geordies and Spanish speakers.

Away from Dynamite Carlos enjoys fixing things and putting himself through punishing exercise regimes.

Craig Brown

Craig Brown
Drums

Despite owning his first drumkit at the age of 8 and spending most of his youth gigging, Craig has only just made a return to playing since quitting in 1994 to pursue DJing and music production. Unable to resist the urge to play in a band again, Craig joined Dynamite in late 2010. He particularly enjoys the variety of styles and genres that the band encompass and the challenge that playing such a broad selection of music brings.

Originating from here, there and everywhere and brought up in a family steeped in music, being back on the live circuit is where Craig belongs. In between doing so, he loves nothing more than spending time with his young children, buying vinyl and dreaming about travelling the world once again, spending each day on a surfboard......
